Police violently evict Occupy Oakland, attacking protesters with
teargas, flash grenades and rubber bullets, arresting dozens and
shooting one man in the face.
Over 500 riot police violently evicted the 350-man protest camp in
Oakland, California early in the morning on Tuesday. At least 85
protesters were arrested as clouds of teargas and the noise of flash
grenades turned downtown Oakland into a dramatic scene resembling
nothing less than an urban warzone. At least one man was shot in the
face with a rubber bullet.
Another was caught in the middle of a cloud of teargas in a wheelchair,
as police kept lobbing canisters at him. In another shocking video,
police can be seen throwing a flash grenade right onto a group of people
trying to evacuate an injured protester.
For all purposes, the truth is
now self-evident: the American state is waging war on its own people.
There are reports that US law enforcement have asked Google to censor several videos exposing police brutality from YouTube.
